Annual Membership Luncheon - July 2004

The Annual Membership Luncheon of the Los Angeles-Berlin Sister City Committee was held at the terrace of the beautiful home of Christiane and Niels Christiansen with a beautiful view over the San Gabriel Mountains.

Rosemarie Reisch, chairperson, greeted and thanked the board members and guests and rendered an overview of past, current and future projects and programs the organization is planning in 2006. An open discussion followed where all members and prospective members were encouraged to participate and contribute ideas. During the election process, Erika Monks and Frank Mottek were reelected and Christiane Christiansen was welcomed as a new member.

Then Consul General Dr. Hans Jürgen Wendler talked about the important role of the sister cities in establishing social and academic contacts and the interrelationship between cultural institutions and organizations as well as artists. He mentioned the Max Liebermann Exhibit which will take place at the Skirball Center in 2006 with 95 of the artist’s works being shown. As soon as we have found a suitable location, Angelenos will be able to welcome the Buddy Bear Exhibit from Berlin which is currently traveling around the world with 175 buddy bears dressed and painted by 175 international artists.

During the Luncheon, an animated exchange took place between the members.
